Kennewick Police Apprehend Armed Teens Near Middle School
Kennewick Police apprehended two teens near Park Middle School after they had burglarized a business the previous morning.
KPD released a press release concerning the burglary and the incident that lead to Park Middle School going into lockdown for about 25 minutes Monday afternoon.

Here are the details of the incident as reported by KPD:
On the morning of Sunday 9-26-21, KPD officers responded to a business in the area of the 800 blk of North Columbia Center Boulevard for a report of a burglary where forced entry was made into the business and multiple firearms had been stolen.
KPD detectives investigated the incident and on 9-27-2021 developed a probable case for two 15-year-old males for burglary and theft of firearms. Around 3:45 PM, the two suspicious males were located entering an apartment in the area of the 1100 block of W 10th Ave.
Additional resources, including SWAT, were called to the scene to assist in the safe apprehension of the suspects. W 10th Ave was shutdown between Newport St
and Hartford St. due to the proximity of the apartment to W 10th Ave.
After a short period of time, the two suspects were detained without incident. During a search of the location, multiple firearms were recovered.
Both juvenile suspects were booked into the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center.
During this incident, Park Middle School was placed in lockdown for the safety of the children that were participating in after-school sports. Children were being released to the east of the location where parents were able to safely pick up their children.
The school was in lockdown for about 25 minutes and was reopened as soon as the scene was found to be safe. This is an ongoing investigation.
Kennewick Police is asking if anyone has any additional information concerning this incident to reach out to them.
