Lemonade Day 2022 in Yakima County Was a Super Success!

Saturday was all about building small businesses, igniting the entrepreneurial spirit in our local kids and if you missed it, OMG you better mark your calendar for next year! It's called Lemonade Day, providing the kids of the Yakima Valley a taste of what it's like to run their own unique lemonade stand, providing skills like how to make money, save money and donate money too!

50% of our Nation is made up of small businesses and they are kind of dying so this is an incredible opportunity to get the youth involved in getting that small business spark back.

A huge shout-out goes to the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce for finding this program and implementing it here. The backstory, it was about to gear up when Covid-19 hit so it was pushed to the back burner but not any more! It was such a successful event, it will now become a yearly event that you have GOT to become a part of.

Do You Love Lemonade?

It was so much fun to be able to provide the music and announcements during the days events. The weather on Saturday at SOZO Sports Complex couldn't have been better. Bear Events brought the foam machine, which was a hit for the kids AND the adults and there were SO many different types of lemonade to choose from!

The Lemonade Lab featured pop rocks, the Hocus Pocus Lemonade stand featured an organic pea flower that changed the color of the lemonade! The interviews were some of my favorite parts, getting to hear all the cool thoughts from the kids with all kinds of themes like names of Mortal Kombat characters and the prizes these kids received!

So many incredible prizes like a tv, laptop, apple watches, backpacks full of school supplies, gift cards and more! So many smiles, it was open to the community to come and support by purchasing lemonade and snack. Using March 2019 data from the Social Security Administration, Stacker compiled a list of the most popular names in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C., according to their 2018 SSA rankings. The top five boy names and top five girl names are listed for each state, as well as the number of babies born in 2018 with that name. Historically common names like Michael only made the top five in three states, while the less common name Harper ranks in the top five for 22 states.
