An Open Letter to the Owner of This Awesome Boat Vehicle in Tri-Cities
We've all seen something on the road that made us take a second look.
Sometimes, we've even turned around and gone back to take a closer look. This was one of those moments.
Did someone lose their load on Highway 395?
Nope. A friend of mine texted me the above photo. The driver of the boat, or vehicle pulled in front of her to make a presumable stop at Walmart. My friend did some investigation and the vehicle did have a license plate. It was on wheels. Is this a boat or a car, or both?
I'd love to have a chat with the owner of this remarkable vehicle. I have questions.
Dear Owner of the boat-car:
It would be great if you could answer the following.
1. Is it an Amphicar, or amphibious vehicle? That is a car that drives on water as well as land. According to Wikipedia, the Amphicar is an amphibious automobile. They're often referred to as cars that swim. According to Wikipedia, the amphibious automobile was launched at the 1961 New York Auto Show. Production stopped in 1965.
2. Who constructed this vehicle? Was the vehicle built locally?
3. How fast does the car go on land? What about as a boat in the water?
If you are the owner, or know the owner of this very cool vehicle, please reach out. My email is: patti.banner@townsquaremedia.com. We'd love to know the story on your very cool vehicle. You can also answer on our mobile app.
By the way, I've done some research on Amphicars and found that there's a dedicated website for owners, amphicar.com. Who knew?
