According to reports from the Pasco Police Department, on Sunday evening, Pasco Police received several reports of a woman walking down Court Street armed with a rifle.
Pasco Police filed these details:
Officers responded to the area and observed a female wearing tactical body armor, a kevlar helmet, and a rifle. Officers arrived in the area and found the woman talking to two citizens on their front porch. The woman started acting aggressively towards passing vehicles and the citizens kept her calm until Pasco Police Officers could arrive. The first Officer who arrived saw the tense situation and asked the female to drop the rifle. The female did not comply and pointed the rifle in the direction of the Officer. The female then walked toward the Officer while pointed in. The Officer took cover and called for backup. It was clear the woman was experiencing a mental crisis.
Pasco Police Crisis Negotiators on the scene immediately started communicating with the woman. The woman was ordered to drop the weapon and take off her armor. After some negotiation, the woman dropped the rifle and threw her helmet down.
