My wife and I took a walk along the Columbia River Park Trail and I passed by this purple heart display. I wasn't aware of it. My wife's work is right next to it so she mentioned that she knew about it.
The purple heart looks a little overgrown but it's winter but the display of purple and a heart-display still came shining through. I took a few photos and I decided to read about the display. It had a great story behind how the display came to be.
What's The Purple Heart Given Out For?
According to the plague at the display, the Columbia Basin Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society planted the garden to honor veterans.
Right Along The Columbia Park Trail, Is A Living Purple Heart
The cool thing about the display is that Purple Sage is at the center of the heart and when spring begins, it'll transform into a living purple heart.
