Sadly Another Annual Event Canceled : Dayton’s All Wheels Weekend
For the last 25 years on Fathers day weekend, the little historic town of Dayton Washington has hosted 'All Wheels Weekend' this year would have been the 26th annual All Wheels Weekend but sadly has been canceled due to you guessed it COVID-19 or as I call it 'The Rona' or 'Damn Rona' anyway
It is another event to scratch off the list. This year's event would have kicked off Friday, June 19th with a night cruise through downtown Dayton featuring classic cars, motorcycles, hot rods, and even tractors, yes farm implements are popular in these parts.
On Saturday the event featured an antique tractor show, a show and shine lawn mower drag races, a poker walk, a men's drag race where men dress up in a girlie fashion and race tri-cycles and finally a demolition derby....all not happening .
All wheels weekend was started in the early 90’s as a way to show off the adorable little town's newly renovated downtown area.
The Dayton Chamber of Commerce voted Wednesday to cancel the 26th annual event that was slated for June 19-21, anticipating crowds will likely be too large to host in the early phase of a statewide effort to reopen from COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
By the way, Dayton has applied for Governor Inslee's variation which would allow Dayton to be in phase 2 of the reopening plan but phase two only allows for gatherings of 5 or fewer people, to hold this event Washington State would have to be at stage 4
