Shame on despicable people! It's really very sad, that some lower than low people are trying to profit from the death of an Officer. Yakima Police have received reports of people calling residents soliciting money for an Officer's funeral and family. A few days ago, the Yakima Police Department lost Sergeant Joseph Deccio in the line of duty.

Yakima Police will never contact you directly for any type of donation. The Department has posted on social media that they do intend to have a formal site up and running soon for those wishing to donate to officer Deccio's family.

If you receive a call asking for a donation, please contact the Yakima Police Department at 509-575-6200.

WE WILL NOT CALL, STOP BY YOUR RESIDENCE or CONTACT YOU DIRECTLY for DONATIONS.

Remember, the Police Departments do NOT call soliciting for money. They will NOT visit your residence seeking donations. if you receive any type of communication asking for money, call the Yakima Police Department at 509-575-6200.
