Gotta love our local police departments...especially on social media. The latest is from the Yakima Police Department. It's called "Making New Paths."

On Monday, the 911 Dispatch Center answered a call regarding a vehicle off the roadway. It was reported to be in a construction zone.

As the first officer arrived at the scene, he saw an SUV in a construction ditch. However, there was no one in the SUV. The driver fled the collision. They were probably too embarrassed by their poor driving. I mean, who doesn't heed the "Construction Zone" signs? Obviously, the vehicle was stuck. Maybe alcohol was involved? Was the vehicle stolen? So many questions need to be answered.

If you have any information regarding this unbelievable collision, the Yakima Police Department would love to hear from you.

If there's one take-away from this story, it's to be aware of your surroundings. If you come upon a construction zone, it's best to beware of the orange cones. They're present for a reason. It's obvious the driver of the SUV noticed this too late.

It's not the same at all, but this story reminds me of Evil Knievel and all his motorcycle jumps.

We hope the driver is ok. The Yakima Police Department encourages anyone with information to get in touch. They say the best number to call is 9-1-1.
