When I first heard that there was going to be a ground breaking in Union Gap from a relative that works at the Union Gap City Hall, I was curious of what was going to be built. She knew, but she teased me, and told me how I would never guess what it was.

So that got me guessing, what could take that big grassy spot in front of City Hall and the Union Gap Police Department. I thought, maybe a detention facility, like a small jail perhaps. Maybe a some covered areas, and spruce up the beautiful green grass, build a giant 'big toy' and turn it into a park. I was for sure it would be a park. I mean, look at that yard, it would be perfect for a picnic.

Well, I showed up the other day to pay a visit, and man oh man, they did not waste any time in breaking ground. The beautiful greenery was no more. Dirt and construction equipment was everywhere!

Well, as I was going around taking pictures of the construction site, the answer to my question was finally answered. And of course, it made sense. In fact, my friends who work at the other locations had even told me that it was coming. You have now just seen the beginning stages of the new Library & Community Center in Union Gap!
