Thief Uses Diversion to Steal Motel 6 Cash Drawer

Kennewick police are searching for this guy, accused of stealing nearly $250 from the cash drawer at the Motel 6 in the 2800 block of West 2nd early Thursday morning.

Around 4AM, police say the man came into the office and told the night desk clerk there was a fight in the parking lot around the back or side of the building.

When the clerk ran outside to see what was going on, and if they needed to call 911, the man reached over the counter, opened the cash drawer and made off with about $240. Police didn't say if he was a guest, but when the clerk returned, the man had vanished.
