Union Gap Costco Remains Open Despite Covid-19 Outbreak
The Yakima Health District is investigating a Covid-19 outbreak at Costco. After testing was done, it's been confirmed that 145 employees of Costco's Union Gap location tested positive for the virus. All the positive tested employees are currently completing their isolation or quarantine.
According to a press release from the Yakima Health District:
“At this point in time, all positive cases have been identified and sent home. Weekly sitewide testing will ensure that any new cases that occur, will be promptly identified, and those staff members will also be directed to isolate and quarantine. This, in addition to ensuring that Costco, and its shoppers, continue to follow the proper COVID-19 safety precautions, will mitigate the risk for potential COVID-19 infection.” Dr. Larry Jecha, Interim Health Officer
Costco was one of the first retailers requiring face coverings for customers to enter at all locations. As of now, the Union Gap store remains open.
The Yakima Health District hasn't recommended any business close due to Covid-19 infection among staff employees. Businesses that do report an outbreak are given information regarding employee testing, return to work procedures, and cleaning and disinfecting the business location. You can read the press release issued Tuesday, 12/29 here.
According to a post on the Yakima Health District's Facebook page, FREE Covid-19 testing is available 7 days a week at the State Fair Park and Sunnyside Community Center. If you think you've been exposed or have symptoms, it's recommended you should get tested.
Remember, free COVID-19 testing is now available 7 days a week at the State Fair Park and Sunnyside Community...
