Washington Roads are Buckling Due to Heat, Travel w/Care…
As the PNW deals with excessive heat and high fire danger we have another concern. There are reports that asphalt and concrete roadways are buckling due to the extreme heat.

While there haven't been any reports of Tri-Cities roadways buckling, it is a very real possibility.
So far, the reports have been on the West side of the state. WSP Trooper Rocky Oliphant tweeted on Sunday regarding State Route 544 near Everson.
Interstate 5 in Seattle was impacted yesterday in several locations with buckling.
The National Weather Service tweeted, "Be vigilant on your commutes."
There WAS another report from WSDOT East that pavement was peeling State Route 20 going through Pend Oreille.
As always, practice caution when traveling through any of these areas. Plan to allow extra time for your commute. Pack water and make sure your phone is charged.
