Ams K-9 Jersey Auction Launched With KPD May 4--Bid on One!

Most of us would rather forget 2020. Including area sports teams.

We clearly remember the final five home regular-season games in 2020, including what would have been the playoffs. In late March, the WHL scuttled the rest of the 2019-2020 season, and most of the 2020-2021 as well. The Tri City Americans didn't get to start playing until recently.

But that won't stop the Kennewick Police Department and the Americans from having their jersey auction.

These special jerseys are the latest in a long series of theme nights the Americans have held, most of them to benefit various charities as well as the Players Education Fund. There's been Nuclear Night (Hanford heritage) NASCAR Night, Breast Cancer Awareness (pink jerseys) Military Appreciation night (Camo jerseys), and more.

Now, it's K-9 jerseys up for auction. These were to have been worn on ice and then auctioned off online towards the end of the 2019-2020 season, but COVID-19 scuttled that.

Now, you can own one of these! From the Kennewick Police Department:

"Here is your chance to own these amazing one-of-a-kind jerseys. To our knowledge there has never been a Police K9 featured on a WHL jersey. The KPD themed K9 jerseys are being auctioned off starting today through 10PM on Sunday May 9th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the KPD K9 Unit which is primarily funded through donations. The Americans plan to hold another K9 night when fans are allowed back at the Toyota Center.

Everyone who purchases a jersey will have an opportunity to meet retired K9 Bear at a jersey pickup event Sunday May 16th between noon and 1PM at the Toyota Center."
