The first getaway car in a pair of knife-armed robberies over the weekend in Kennewick has been recovered in Pasco.

Kennewick Police have apprehended 29-year-old Juan Llanes-Contreras in connection with two early morning knife robberies at the Circle K at Kellogg and Clearwater, and then another one at the USA Gas station near Edison and Clearwater.

In the first incident, a silver Pontiac G-6 was identified as the getaway car. The car had already been reported stolen Saturday morning around 5:00AM from the parking lot of the 7-11 at 14th and Sylvester; it had been left running while the driver went into the store.

The car was used at 5:30AM for the Circle K knife robbery. Police said by 1AM Sunday, the car had been abandoned. Contreras apparently stole another vehicle, then robbed the USA Gas station Sunday morning.

A citizen called Police Sunday afternoon, and informed them the silver Pontiac had been abandoned in an alleyway near their home, and had been there since around 1AM.  Police say the driver's side window and mirror had some damage, but it was able to be returned to it's owner.

Meanwhile, KPD not only caught Conteras, but they also located the second stolen vehicle he used in his second robbery.

He's now facing a multitude of charges, including when he fought with Kennewick Polic as they were apprehending him.
