There is another phone scam going around the Columbia Basin and the Benton County Sheriff's Department is warning people that scammers are impersonating county employees.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Department, it appears another phone scam is going through the area.

Persons are claiming to work for the Benton County Sheriff's Office. They are telling citizens that they have warrants for their arrest.

The scammers then proceed to ask the citizens to wire money to avoid arrest.

They are using the names, Mike Miller or James Brown.

They don't work for the Benton County Sheriff's Department. The department will never call any citizen are request any money instead of being arrested.

This is a scam. Please don't talk to them, hang up and report the call to the Benton County Sheriff's Department at their dispatch non-emergency number, 509-628-0333.

There are a lot of scams going on so keep yourself aware. Scammers are using all methods to get your cash from your stimulus checks to gift cards.
