Time To Get My Washington License – What Should I Expect?
I put it off for long enough.
I loathe the idea of even going.
It’s never been a positive experience for me - at all.
But I gotta get this done.
It’s time to get my Washington Driver License. AndI am NOT lookin forward to it.
By law I was supposed to get it within 30 days of moving here. Then, ‘Rona.
In Washington, it’s called the Washington Department of Licensing. I have no idea what to expect, but if it’s anything like the California Department of Motor Vehicles (The DMV), I reserve my right have a my patience tested.
In California, a typical DMV appointment would take several hours. In one case, I spent over three hours on a simple item - and, I had an appointment. The average wait is about two hours. Every time I went to the DMV, I always downloaded a movie, made sure my phone was charged and brought my headphones, ready to sit in the most uncomfortable round plastic chairs leftover from the 1970’s.
It was an exercise of dysfunction at the DMV. It was a depressing place to be with baby’s constantly crying, toddlers running around with full diapers and frustrated tax payers whom were treated like they were interrupting the workers time.
Not to mention I just registered my Chevy Cruze last year to the tune of $367. $367?!?What is a retainer fee anyway? I don’t know, but I had to pay it. Was I resentful every time I ran over a state pothole? Yes.
I am hoping and praying that my experience is a fraction of that the California DMV. So, my question is, what should I expect? Long waits? Tons of confusion? Should I bring my extreme patience? Which movie should I download? I was thinking the bus movie ‘Speed’, just to be ironic.
All My Best,
